Swissôtel Nankai Osaka Review: Best 5-Star Hotel in Namba, Osaka
Most Osaka trips are pretty short—usually just three or four nights—so if you want to make the most of your time, hotel location really matters.
I’ve been to Osaka several times and plan to keep going back, and if I’m staying in the Namba area,I’d book Swissôtel
without hesitation. The rooms and breakfast are both solid, but the biggest reason to stay at Swissôtel is the location.Really, that’s the standout feature.
Especially if you’re taking the Rapi:t from Kansai International Airport and planning to spend most of your time around Namba and Dotonbori, this is one of the easiest, most efficient hotels you could choose.
1. Osaka hotel location
Swissôtel Nankai Osaka is directly connected to Nankai Namba Station. The hotel’s third floor links straight to the station concourse, so you don’t have to step outside and wander around looking for the hotel.
It’s also connected indoors to Takashimaya Department Store, which is incredibly convenient. From the restaurant floor to the basement food hall and all the amazing dessert shops, there are plenty of places to eat without going far at all. There are also convenience stores, restaurants, and shopping spots all around the hotel.
When I was out sightseeing or shopping in Namba and ended up with bags in hand, I could just swing back to the hotel, drop everything off, and head out again. If you’re like me and somehow turn every Japan trip into an all-day shopping marathon, being able to come and go from your hotel this easily is a huge plus.
2. Airport access
Getting to and from the airport was easily one of the things I loved most about this hotel.
If you take the Rapi:t from Kansai International Airport into Osaka, the last stop is Nankai Namba Station. Once you arrive, you can go straight to the hotel indoors without ever stepping outside.
On this trip, I left home for Incheon International Airport, landed at Kansai International Airport, took the Rapi:t, and made it all the way into the hotel with almost no time spent outdoors. Since I was traveling with a suitcase and a baby, that simple, streamlined route felt even more valuable.
At checkout, one of the hotel staff members was even kind enough to help move our luggage all the way to the Nankai Namba Station concourse. I’m not saying that’s guaranteed every time, but I really appreciated it.
Anyway, from arrival day to departure day, getting around was unbelievably easy. If I had to name just one reason to stay at Swissôtel Nankai Osaka, I’d honestly pick the location before the room itself.

3. Room
The room I stayed in was a Swiss Executive Twin Room,and I was on the 32nd floor.
City hotels in Japan can often feel pretty tight on space, but Swissôtel Nankai Osaka felt comfortably roomy for a three-night stay. Even with two twin beds, the room didn’t feel cramped, and across from the beds there was a TV, a long desk, and shelving that made it easy to spread out all the little things you end up carrying while traveling.
There was also a separate sofa and table by the window, which made the room feel even more usable for relaxing or having a quick snack. The closet and storage space were generous too, so unpacking and organizing everything was easy.
The bathroom had a separate bathtub, and there was plenty of counter space around the sink for toiletries and other essentials. The room also came with a Nespresso machine and an electric kettle, so the overall setup felt complete and well thought out.
Since I was staying in a high-floor room on the 32nd floor, the view over Osaka was another highlight. During the day, I could see the city spread out below, and at night, the sparkling Osaka skyline made it fun to come back and just enjoy the view from the room.
4. Breakfast and lounge
During my 3-night, 4-day stay, I had hotel breakfast every morning. I tried both the main breakfast restaurant, Table36, and the Executive Lounge breakfast.
Table36 had a wider selection, and I loved being able to eat with a city view from such a high floor. Overall, the food was very good too.
The lounge breakfast had fewer options, but it was quieter and more relaxed, which made it a nice place to ease into the morning.
That said, this neighborhood also has plenty of breakfast spots where local office workers eat, so I wouldn’t say breakfast is something you absolutely have to add.
When you book, I’d recommend comparing the price difference between rates with and without breakfast. If the breakfast-included rate isn’t much more, it’s worth adding because the breakfast here is tasty and well-rounded.
Also, if you want your trip to feel a little more like a hotel stay as well as a city getaway, choosing an Executive room with lounge access is a great option.
5. Who I recommend this hotel for
Based on my own stay, this is a hotel I’d genuinely recommend to anyone planning an Osaka trip centered around Namba. If you’re searching for the best Osaka Namba hotel, this is one I’d confidently put near the top of the list.
If you have endless energy and don’t mind a long walk back to your hotel, then no, you probably don’t need to book this one. But if you’re traveling with a baby like we were, or planning a family trip with your parents, definitely put Swissôtel on your shortlist. I really don’t think you’ll regret it.
Also, if you’re taking the Rapi:t from Kansai International Airport, planning a shopping-heavy itinerary, or trying to save time on a short trip, you’ll feel the location advantage of this Osaka Namba hotel even more.
On the other hand, if you’ll be spending most of your time far from the hotel and only coming back late at night to sleep, a 5-star hotel might feel like more than you need. It’s worth thinking about your travel style before booking.
