Kyo Watami Review: A Polished Japanese Restaurant at Galaxy Macau

If you’re looking for a polished Japanese restaurant at Galaxy Macau, I can confidently recommend Kyo Watami.

After doing a full loop around Taipa Village,
we walked over to Galaxy Hotel for lunch.

Galaxy Macau has a great Japanese restaurant inside:
Kyo Watami
and it was so good that I’d happily recommend it without hesitation.

Kyo Watami
G021, Ground Floor, Galaxy Macau, Estrada da Baia de Nossa Senhora da Esperanca, Macau

I’m pretty sure it was on the lobby level of Galaxy Hotel (basically the first floor),
and since the whole area is lined with restaurants, it wasn’t hard to find at all.

Hours are daily from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.

The entrance looks like this.

Inside, the decor feels exactly like you’d expect from an upscale hotel Japanese restaurant—sleek and elegant.

It’s also a fairly large restaurant, so there are lots of different seating options.

We sat at a four-person table in the middle of the main dining room.

You can browse the menu on a tablet,
but I didn’t manage to photograph the entire thing,
so I pulled the official menu link instead for reference.

Here’s everything the four of us ordered.

First up was the corn appetizer.
My dad is obsessed with corn, so we had to order it — 28 MOP.

We also ordered sushi because it looked especially good on the menu,
and the presentation was seriously impressive — 333 MOP.

There’s also a more expensive sushi set for 888 MOP,
which comes with several extra pieces of sashimi.

At the time, I wasn’t eating raw fish
because I was pregnant, so I couldn’t try it myself,
but my husband and my parents all said the sushi was excellent.

We also got the teppan-grilled chicken thigh — 138 MOP.

They even do a little flame show right at the table.
When I pulled out my camera, they kindly waited so I could take photos first.

The staff finished it with that smoky charred flavor
and even cut it up for us, which made it easy to eat. It was especially good with the cabbage on the side.

We also tried a sushi roll, and it was beautifully done.
It was the Spider Roll — 128 MOP.

It had soft-shell crab inside,
and the top was loaded with sliced avocado and flying fish roe.
Honestly, it was ridiculously good.

This one was a crab meat sushi roll, and the presentation was stunning.
It even came with a whole crab shell on the side — 148 MOP.

It was packed with crab meat, and while I can’t remember exactly
what sauce they used, I do remember how delicious it was.

The ikura (salmon roe) on top
was also incredibly fresh—roe can taste fishy if it’s not fresh, but this one was excellent.

Last up, we ordered katsudon — 168 MOP.

We added it because we thought we might still be hungry,
but after working through everything else, we were already pretty full, so
we mostly ate the pork cutlet and left quite a bit of the rice. This was tasty too.

Whoever is running the kitchen clearly knows what they’re doing,
because overall, every dish felt high-quality and well executed.

This was easily one of the best meals I had in Macau,
and if you’re searching for a Japanese restaurant in Macau, Kyo Watami

our total came to 943 MOP,
which is about $117 USD before any discount.

Split between four people, that worked out to around $29 per person,
which felt pretty reasonable
for a meal at an upscale hotel restaurant.

At restaurants inside Galaxy Macau,
you can get 10% off if you have a Galaxy Membership card.
It’s worth signing up first before eating at the restaurants or food court.

As for how to get the membership,
there’s already plenty of info out there, so I’ll skip the step-by-step here.

The end.
