If you’re looking for a good fusion Japanese restaurant in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Kaze Cuisine was a solid find.
We were out because my husband needed to get his Abu Dhabi driver’s license issued,
and after finishing everything at the vehicle registration office,
we did a quick search nearby and ended up at this restaurant for a last-minute meal.
It was Kaze Cuisine, a fusion Japanese spot in Abu Dhabi.
“Kaze” means “wind” in Japanese.
They offered valet parking right in front of the restaurant,
but we didn’t realize that and parked somewhere else nearby.
One of the staff members took our car key
and personally moved the car to the front for us.
The interior didn’t really feel like typical Abu Dhabi,
and honestly, it had the kind of pretty, polished design you could easily imagine in Korea.
Even though there was construction right outside the window, the atmosphere inside was still nice.
It didn’t really give off a strong Japanese restaurant vibe, though.
While traveling around Dubai and Abu Dhabi, UAE, I always end up thinking the same thing:
so many restaurants look completely empty all the time,
and yet somehow they keep running, which honestly fascinates me.
The only places that always seem packed are the restaurants inside shopping malls.
Here’s a look at the menu at Kaze Cuisine in Abu Dhabi.
As you can probably tell from the menu,
people here don’t always draw strict lines when it comes to Asian food,
so even though it’s called a Japanese restaurant, the menu includes dishes from all over Asia.
There was everything from tom yum soup to Taiwanese-style bao sandwiches and Southeast Asian fried rice—no real boundaries at all.
Even at Korean restaurants, you’ll often see sushi rolls on the menu, so it’s just that kind of dining scene.
They also had a big drink menu,
but since regular restaurants in the UAE usually can’t sell alcohol,
everything was non-alcoholic.
It’s been a while since I visited, so I can’t remember
the exact menu name—maybe it was Smoky Shrimp?
Anyway, it was a shrimp fry dish that looked seriously good.
It tasted great too, and the portion was pretty generous, so I was happy with it.
There were lots of sushi roll options too, but I don’t remember exactly which one we ordered.
Maybe it was a tempura maki roll… or maybe not.
What I do remember is that all three kinds were pretty tasty—definitely a decent pick if you want fusion Japanese food in Abu Dhabi.
The noodle dish was the last thing to arrive.
I think this one was probably spicy chicken noodles.
This was another generous portion.
It tasted pretty much exactly like what you’d expect from the way it looked.
The staff were kind, and overall it was a perfectly good restaurant, but it’s not the kind of famous Abu Dhabi restaurant I’d go far out of my way for, and the food wasn’t mind-blowing.
Still, if you’re staying nearby, Kaze Cuisine is worth trying.
