Korean Air KE2147 Prestige Class Review: Incheon to Okinawa with a 9-Month-Old Baby

Korean Air KE2147 Prestige Class review: flying from Incheon to Okinawa with our 9-month-old baby

Our third international trip with the baby!

This time, we flew Korean Air Prestige Class again.

Here’s my review of flight KE2147 from Incheon to Okinawa.

Dad, where are we going this time?

Korean Air Prestige Check-In Counter at Incheon Airport Terminal 2

The Korean Air Prestige check-in counter

is at Counter A in Incheon International Airport Terminal 2.

Counter A isn’t out in the open,

and with the walls around it, it feels a little more private.

Inside, though, it looks pretty much like the other counters.

If you’re a Morning Calm Premium or Million Miler member,

you can still check in quickly at Counter A

even if you’re flying economy.

Maybe one day I’ll make it to Morning Calm Premium too…!

Are you getting used to airports now?

Incheon to Okinawa on Korean Air KE2147

Flight KE2147 was scheduled to depart at 2:35 PM.

The aircraft was an A321neo,

but the safety card listed it under the broader A321-200 designation.

The A321neo Prestige cabin only has 8 seats.

Since it’s a smaller aircraft and there are just eight business class seats,

you’ll probably want to book early if you want to fly Prestige on this route.

The Prestige seat type is Sleeper 2.0.

It’s less private than the Suite seat,

so there are a few things that feel a little lacking,

but for a short Japan route, it’s more than good enough.

Our seats were 8D and 8E, and we had three windows beside us.

When you’re flying with a baby,

getting a perfectly tidy photo of your seat is basically impossible…^^..

While we were busy organizing all our stuff,

we also got our welcome drinks and pretzels.

Once we settled in, we took a couple of commemorative photos with the baby.

And yes… she was chewing on the partition.

Korean Air Prestige Sleeper 2.0 Seat Review

The Prestige Sleeper 2.0 seat

comes with a 17-inch monitor and reclines fully to 180 degrees.

There’s also plenty of storage throughout, which was nice.

The remote control and seat control panel.

There’s also a wireless charging pad,

but mine didn’t charge well because of my phone grip.

If you just place your phone down without anything attached, it should work fine.

USB charging port and headset.

The partition between the two seats is actually pretty high,

but it’s fixed in place and the height can’t be adjusted ^_

For some reason, the outer armrest goes down.

The tray table is wide, and there’s even a phone stand, which was great.

In-Flight Meal on Korean Air Incheon to Okinawa

A look at the in-flight meal menu for the Incheon to Okinawa route.

The onboard meal choices were two options:

Korean-style spicy beef bulgogi

or Western-style seafood gnocchi.

There were also three pre-order meal options:

Thai chicken curry,

fried shiitake mushroom gangjeong with gochujang sauce,

and couscous with roasted vegetables.

We picked the spicy beef bulgogi and the shiitake mushroom gangjeong.

The wine list.

Cocktails, whiskey, beer, and other drinks were listed here too.

This was the fried shiitake mushroom gangjeong with gochujang sauce.

It came with aewook doenjang soup and seaweed.

Since it was called gangjeong, I expected it to have a batter coating,

but it was actually just the mushrooms themselves, fried without a thick crust.

The mushrooms were plump, springy, and pleasantly chewy, and the sauce was delicious too.

If you normally like mushrooms, I’d definitely recommend this one.

This was the spicy beef bulgogi meal.

I didn’t eat that one myself, but I was told it was good.

Flying Business Class with a Baby

My daughter was 9 months old on the day of the flight.

She had already been on four flights by then, and on all four,

she never cried and handled them really well, so I wasn’t too worried this time either.

The Incheon to Okinawa flight is only about two hours,

so Okinawa, Japan is actually a pretty manageable destination with a baby.

We don’t usually expose her to media,

but on planes, she ends up watching the in-flight safety video.

She finds it fascinating and watches it with total focus.

Dad’s custom takeoff position.

Surprisingly, she stayed like this just fine.

As soon as we reached cruising altitude, we reclined the seat

and laid the baby down.

Maybe her ears just don’t bother her, because she happily wriggled around and played the whole time.

She carefully studies the in-flight menu every single time too…^^

She also has to pull out every booklet from the seat pocket.

After the meal, we lay down together and both took a little nap.

The seat isn’t huge, but lying sideways,

it was just enough space for both me and the baby.

A quick look out the window as we arrived.

The weather was clear and beautiful, and it instantly put me in a good mood.

Landing usually hurts your ears more than takeoff,

and babies often cry more during descent,

but maybe she trained for this in the womb, because she looked completely unfazed.

Right before getting off the plane, as a little reward for being such a great flyer,

we let her watch 30 seconds of Pororo, and she absolutely loved it… which is dangerous.

Anyway, the flight attendants were kind,

and even when our little one let out a couple of brief squeals,

the passengers around us just smiled and thought she was cute.

That made the whole flight feel especially comfortable and pleasant.

I’ll be posting a separate review of the return flight, KE2148!
