Korean Air KE951 Prestige Class Review: Incheon to Dubai

I was lucky enough on this Dubai trip
that my husband treated me to business class,
so I got to fly stretched out and actually comfortable!

I think the last time I flew business was back in elementary school,
when I got insanely lucky with an overbooking upgrade on Air Canada.
Since then, as an adult,
I’ve basically always flown economy, so this felt like such a treat.

and yes, since it was my first time, I took a ridiculous number of photos.

The flight time to Dubai usually shows up as around 10 hours 30 minutes,
but for some reason that day
they said it would take about 10 hours 5 minutes.
And that’s pretty much exactly how long it took, which felt like a win.

Normally I’d be thinking, wow, how am I supposed to survive 10 hours on a plane…
but this time I was excited from the moment I boarded.

Korean Air doesn’t operate first class
on the Dubai route, so Prestige Class is the best cabin available.

The aircraft was an Airbus A330-200,
with Korean Air’s Prestige Sleeper seat.It’s not their newest or fanciest seat,
but hey, a fully flat 180-degree bed is still a huge upgrade.

Hopefully someday I’ll get the chance to tryPrestige Suite
too.

Our seats were 8A and 8B,
with about four windows’ worth of space along the side.

I’m around 170 cm tall, and even with my legs fully stretched out, I couldn’t reach the front.

The cabin was almost completely full on the outbound flight.

You could tell the seat was a little dated,
but the recline function was seriously good.

As soon as we boarded, the flight attendant assigned to our section came over to greet us
and offered a welcome drink—champagne, of course.

Slippers and the amenity pouch contents—clearly I was way too excited.
I’m usually pretty frugal, even on big trips like our honeymoon,

but I even brought along
a cooling eye mask I’d bought in Japan to use while sleeping.

Once I had all my stuff organized, it was time to study the menu.
I had already pre-ordered my inflight meal,
so I didn’t need to mention that again and just looked over the drinks and snack options.

The menu on the left was for drinks and alcohol,
and the one on the right was for meals and snacks.
Honestly, though, the menu design kind of gave cost-cutting vibes.

And there were way fewer snack options than I expected.
My dad, who has flown Korean Air business class a lot for work,
told me there are usually plenty of tasty snacks onboard
and said not to waste my stomach space on ramen.

Anyway, I even took a selfie, which I almost never do,
and then we were off.

Bye bye~~~

Of course I checked the route map first.

The headphones also had noise-canceling,
which made them great for sleeping.

There was a power outlet and a USB port,
but they were completely useless.^_

My battery was already running low on the way there,
so I could barely use my phone.

Not long after takeoff,
the pre-meal service started with a scallop dish.

They had Rémy Martin XO cognac, so I had a glass.

The smoked salmon appetizer was just okay, honestly.

The tiny olive balsamic dressing was adorable, though.

For my main, I had pre-ordered the spicy stir-fried octopus rice bowl,
with the octopus and rice served separately.

The octopus was plump and meaty, and even the smell was incredible.
I poured it all over the rice and topped it with the seaweed flakes.

It was so good. If you’re flying this route, definitely pre-order it.

I finished the rice bowl in no time, and then it was dessert time.
There was a cheese plate with fig jam, crackers, and fruit.
Even the strawberries looked ridiculously pretty.

Then they brought out ice cream too—Häagen-Dazs.

Macadamia is my favorite Häagen-Dazs flavor,
but they only had vanilla and strawberry, so I went with strawberry.
I also ordered a cup of hot coffee.

I’m terrible with turbulence, and both the outbound and return flights were pretty bumpy.

The business class lavatory itself was basically the same,
but it was stocked with Atelier Cologne lotion, mouthwash, razors, and other amenities.

After all that food, of course I started getting sleepy.
I totally passed out for an hour or two.

I woke up because it sounded like my husband was ordering something next to me,
and when I opened my eyes, there were all kinds of snacks, so I snapped a photo.

I asked if they had anything good to snack on,
and they literally brought one of each kind.
The photo on the left is, unbelievably, pizza.

Those pretzel snacks were good,
but honestly the other salty snacks were even better.

I started getting hungry again, so I asked when the next meal would be served. They said there were still two hours to go, so I ordered ramen.

Just look at that ramen—giant shrimp and even squid on top.
It was delicious.

On the Dubai route, if you’re lucky,
you can look down and see the peaks of the Himalayas, which was absolutely amazing.
The clouds were beautiful too.

A little later, it was time for the second meal service.

This time my husband and I picked different menus.
He chose the Chinese option, so he got bread with his meal.

I picked the Korean option, so after the salad, my main came right away.
It was bulgogi and japchae.

It was decent, but not nearly as good as the octopus.

My husband had some kind of seafood dish with hot bean sauce,

and he gave me one scallop to try.
The sauce was tasty and not spicy at all.

Fruit came out for dessert.

The little ice crystals on the window were so cute.

We were almost there by then.

Once you start seeing the coastline and the desert,
it’s time to get ready to land.

Touchdown—and I could already see Old Dubai below.
We arrived a little after 6:30.

Thanks for the comfy ride.

Sadly, we had to transfer by bus after landing.

At DXB Terminal 1, you have to take the tram
before heading to immigration, which was a little inconvenient.

After that, we picked up our rental car at the airport and headed out.

But there was a small issue with the car rental,
so we got delayed quite a bit.

By then, the Rolex wall clock was showing almost 8:00.
