The Busena Terrace Review: Pools, Laundry & Gym in Okinawa

On our Okinawa trip with our 10-month-old baby, this was the hotel where we spent our first four nights. The Busena Terracewas it.

I already covered our Deluxe Ocean Front Room in detail in a previous post, so today I’m focusing on The Busena Terrace facilities—especially the pool, coin laundry, and gym.

Where Each Facility Is Located

First, here’s a quick breakdown of the different facilities inside The Busena Terrace resort and where to find them.

• 1st floor: indoor pool & outdoor pool, private beach, Refreshing Square (gym, sauna, spa, aesthetic treatments, GX room), laundry room

• 2nd floor: hotel goods shop, outdoor pool, Fanuan restaurant, La Tida restaurant, Mahae restaurant

• 3rd floor: Maroad cafe, library, souvenir shop

• 4th floor: hotel lobby, club lounge

Floors 5 through 10 are guest rooms.

Outdoor Pool

First up is the outdoor pool. We stayed in February, so it wasn’t open for swimming, but we could still walk around the pool area.

The outdoor pool isn’t huge, but the atmosphere is beautiful, and it feels more than enough for a relaxed resort swim.

There are two outdoor pools in a split-level layout, connected to the 1st and 2nd floors respectively. The one in this photo is the 2nd-floor Upper Pool.

The pool you see here is the 1st-floor Lower Pool. The lower pool also has a waterslide.

You can move between the Upper Pool and Lower Pool using the outdoor stairs or ramp. The Lower Pool is the larger of the two.

There were plenty of sunbeds, and even in the off-season everything looked really well maintained.

This is what it looks like in the evening. Once the lights come on, it’s seriously gorgeous.

Indoor Pool

In winter, only the indoor pool is open, but honestly, the indoor pool was spacious and really nice too.

With windows all around the pool, it feels bright and open, and the high ceiling makes it feel airy even though it’s indoors. There’s also a shallow area for little kids.

There’s even a self-service air pump for floaties, which made it easy to inflate the baby tube we brought with us.

Maybe because it was winter, hardly anyone was using the indoor pool, so it almost felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.

Since it’s a heated pool, our baby was able to swim comfortably without getting cold.

My baby looked so cute swimming that I ended up taking way too many photos.

In the kids’ pool, even a 10-month-old could probably splash around without a float—of course, only with a parent right there.

Anyway, the Busena Terrace indoor pool is definitely worth using, so pack a swimsuit.

Private Beach

We also took a walk along the beach reserved for resort guests only. It’s such a peaceful place to enjoy Okinawa’s emerald-colored water without the crowds.

I loved being able to show my baby that unbelievably vivid turquoise sea—the kind of color you rarely see back home.

Busena Marine Park

Busena Marine Park is a sightseeing spot connected to the resort, and it’s a great place to see fish because it has the only underwater observatory on Okinawa Main Island.

Without even getting in the water, you can look through underwater viewing windows set 5 meters below the surface and see coral reefs and tropical fish.

The boat you see over there is the Busena glass-bottom boat, which takes you out on the water for about 20 minutes so you can watch the fish below.

These are paid attractions, but hotel guests get 10% off, so if you’re staying at The Busena Terrace, I definitely recommend trying them.

Coin Laundry

There’s also a laundry room, which is especially useful for longer stays.

It’s indoors on the side of the 1st-floor Lower Pool area. The sign isn’t very big, so it’s easy to miss.

There are 10 washer-dryer combo machines, which is honestly a lot. With that many, it’s unlikely you’ll run into a situation where every machine is occupied.

It’s a coin laundry, so you’ll need cash.

Each machine has detailed instructions and pricing for the different settings, so you can just use a translation app if needed.

We were staying for four nights, and since we’d also bought some new clothes for the baby, we ended up needing to do laundry midway through the trip.

Maroad Cafe

This is Maroad, the cafe on the 3rd floor, though you can also walk down to it by stairs from the 4th-floor lobby.

It’s a lovely cafe for coffee, light meals, and afternoon tea, and the atmosphere is genuinely beautiful. The afternoon tea especially looked like a great value at around 5,000 yen.

When we checked in, I told myself we absolutely had to come here at least once during our stay, but we spent so much time sightseeing that we never made it back. I was honestly so disappointed.

There’s also a piano performance at a set time every day, and even if you don’t order anything at the cafe, you can still stand in the lobby and enjoy the music.

Refreshing Square

Let’s also take a quick look at Refreshing Square on the 1st floor of the South Tower.

As you’d expect from a five-star hotel, it has upscale wellness facilities including a spa, sauna, and aesthetic treatment rooms.

The gym was a little underwhelming, though. It’s mostly cardio equipment, and there isn’t much for strength training, so during our Busena Terrace stay I basically accepted that bodyweight workouts were the move.

Still, the gym does have things like this.

Across from the gym, there’s also a GX room where programs like yoga are held, so if the timing works out, it’s worth trying.

There’s also a shop called Hotel Selection where you can buy swimwear, slippers, and other things you might need for the pool or beach.

Bike rentals are available too. I think it would be so nice to ride around the resort by bicycle. Since we were traveling with a baby, there were quite a few things we couldn’t try this time.

Still, traveling with our baby made the trip even happier.

We were very happy with the room, and this is the kind of hotel that’s well equipped with all sorts of convenient amenities and resort facilities, so I’d absolutely recommend The Busena Terrace to anyone traveling to Okinawa with a baby.I really would.

For booking, compare prices on Yeogi Eottae, Agoda, and other sites, then go with whichever one is cheapest for your dates.

The Busena Terrace is definitely on the pricier side, so a 7% discount can save you a pretty meaningful amount.
