Original FIX Dubai chocolate I bought in person in Dubai

Dubai chocolate is absolutely everywhere right now.

When I visited Dubai back in April,
I had no idea whatFIX Dubai chocolate
even was, let alone that it was trending.

In Korea, a single bar can cost anywhere from about $6 to $50,
but in Dubai,
FIX chocolate is 68.5 dirhams (about $19)so technically cheaper(?),
and since I was heading back to Dubai again,
I decided to try and get some for myself.

How to order FIX chocolate in Dubai

If you’ve never looked into it,
you might assume that once you’re in Dubai,
it’ll be easy to buy FIX chocolate—but not at all.

They don’t sell it offline,
and you have to use the delivery app Deliveroo
because orders only open at 2 PM and 5 PM every day.
It’s basically like ticketing for a concert, but for chocolate.

The kataifi-filled chocolate is the most popular,
but there are actually lots of other FIX chocolate flavors too.

The flavor names are all ridiculously long,
and the kataifi one is called Can’t Get Knafeh of It.

This knafehis not a flavor invented by FIX,

but a traditional Middle Eastern dessert,

which they reimagined as a chocolate bar.

Anyway, we started waiting about five minutes before 2 PM,
ran into a few payment errors,
but thankfully we still managed to place the order.

I ordered the 6-piece box where you can choose the flavors
and filled the whole thing with only the knafeh flavor,
plus one Mini Heroes box to try the others.

I’d heard rumors that delivery could take hours,
but luckily ours arrived in about 50 minutes.

It really seemed like they make it fresh and send it out right away.

Important things to know before ordering here!

Our hotel was in Palm Jumeirah,
so we failed the first day, then went out to Downtown Dubai the next day
and ordered from the café at the Pullman hotel where we stayed last year.

If the delivery had taken several hours,
it would have been a real problem,
so I was thrilled that we got it in under an hour.

If you’re staying in Palm Jumeirah,
do what we did and order it to
a hotel or café in Downtown Dubai instead.

I was worried because everyone says it melts fast,
and there wasn’t even an ice pack,
but it was totally fine until we got back to the hotel.

There are so many different flavors,
but since we bought the Mini Heroes box,

we ended up with six of the same flavor too, haha.

This is the one everyone wants, right? Even if you were trying to resell it,
this is the only flavor people seem to ask for.
(Not reselling, obviously^^)

Fake Dubai chocolate

Before I get into the taste,
let me show you some of the knockoff versions I spotted in Dubai.

This one was just openly selling a different kataifi chocolate.

I thought maybe if it was cheap,
I could buy some to hand out to friends,

but the fakes were actually more expensive—95 dirhams (about $26).

Hard pass.

And then I walked past a convenience store in The Dubai Mall
and thought, “Oh!! Is that FIX?”

but it wasn’t FIX— it was FEX. Honestly hilarious.

Side note: they also had MrBeast Feastables chocolate.

Trying FIX Dubai chocolate

Okay, now for the actual taste test.

I made it all the way back to Korea with it safely.

When we traveled from Dubai to Abu Dhabi,
I only put an ice pack on top of the box,

and on the flight back to Korea,
I didn’t even use an ice pack—I just carried it onto the plane,
and it arrived in really good shape with barely any melting.Seriously.

My hand got so tanned under the Middle Eastern sun it looks almost dark in the photo.

Anyway, compared to regular chocolate bars,
these are super thick because they’re packed with filling inside.

Unwrapping it—some oil from the pistachio cream
had leaked out a little, but compared to the ones I saw people receive
from Korean Smart Store sellers,
this one was in much better condition with way less green filling leaking out.

It’s very sweet, so I definitely recommend eating it with an iced Americano or tea.

I tried breaking it open like I’d seen on Instagram.
But I had kept it in the fridge and took it out too quickly,
so I didn’t get that gooey, melty pistachio cream pull
and it snapped cleanly instead, which was a little disappointing.

Still, I finally got to try
the real original Dubai chocolate.

It’s definitely very sweet, crispy, and genuinely tasty,
but honestly,
I wouldn’t say it’s mind-blowing enough to pay $50 for in Korea.

That said, compared to other chocolate bars I’ve had,
the texture and flavor are definitely different,
so if you get the chance, I do recommend trying it once.

This time, opening the FIX Mini Heroes box

I had already peeked inside once at the hotel because I was curious.

It comes with these five flavors:

Mind Your Own Buiscoff: decent
Can’t Get Knafeh of It: recommended
Butter to Be Safe Than Salty: recommended
You Karak Me Up: not recommended
Cereously Chewsy: decent

All the chocolate names are puns.

I ate one in Abu Dhabi,
so one slot is empty.

Of course I started with the knafeh flavor first,

and from here on, the tasting happened at home in Korea.

Mind Your Own Buiscoff
tastes like Lotus cookies plus white chocolate,
and it’s good, but also kind of familiar.

Butter to Be Safe Than Salty
has a strong peanut butter flavor with caramel too,
and the crispy texture is the best part.

If you want to try something other than the kataifi flavor,
this one is a solid pick.

You Karak Me Upwas…
I didn’t know what karak was, but I guess it’s a really intense Middle Eastern spice profile;

from the first bite, the warm spiced Middle Eastern flavor came through strongly.
It has a lot of karak custard cream inside,
and you also get a biscuit note, but unless you specifically love that kind of flavor,
I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it.

Lastly, Cereously Chewsy
tasted like a Nutella brownie mixed with Frosted Flakes,
but maybe because it had been sitting for a while, the cereal had gone a little soft.

This one was also mostly just very sweet
and not especially unique, so I wouldn’t really recommend it either.

And that wraps up my FIX Dubai chocolate mission.

I heard FIX chocolate might launch in Korea
sometime in October, so maybe hold out until then.
