If you’re flying out of Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan, and have lounge access, KIX Lounge Kansai is a pretty great place to spend your pre-flight time. I stopped in before my flight after wrapping up my Osaka trip, and I was honestly surprised by how spacious, clean, and comfortable it felt.
I was flying Korean Air business class, and at check-in the staff directed me to the lounge I could use. Between the generous seating, runway views, decent food spread, showers, and a genuinely useful baby room, this ended up being one of the better airport lounge experiences I’ve had lately.

Who Can Use KIX Lounge Kansai at Kansai Airport?
There are two main premium lounges in this part of Kansai International Airport: KIX Lounge Premium and KIX Lounge Kansai.
KIX Lounge Premium is generally for first class passengers, ANA business class passengers, and eligible high-tier ANA frequent flyers.
KIX Lounge Kansai is used by business class passengers on other airlines, Star Alliance Gold travelers, and other eligible guests depending on airline status and ticket class.

In my case, I was able to enter with a Korean Air business class ticket. This lounge can also be used with a Korean Air Morning Calm lounge voucher, but it is not accessible with Priority Pass.

If you’re flying Korean Air, you may also be able to reserve access in advance. From what I could tell, the number of pre-bookable spots seems limited, so it’s smart to book early if that option matters to you. That said, the lounge is large enough that outside of major peak travel dates, a standard visit should be fine.
How to Find the KIX Lounge at Kansai International Airport

I was told the lounge was near Gate 21, and it was easy enough to find from there.

Just follow the overhead lounge signs in the terminal.

Take the escalator or elevator upstairs, and you’ll first come to KIX Lounge Premium.

KIX Lounge Kansai is right next door. Since we were flying Korean Air business class, this was the lounge we used.
KIX Lounge Kansai Review: Seating, Space, and Amenities

The first thing I noticed was the size. KIX Lounge Kansai is seriously roomy. It’s divided into a North Side and a South Side, and you can move freely between them. The North Side felt a little larger to me, though both sections were spacious.

Staff checked our boarding passes at the entrance, and from there each side branched off in a different direction.

This was the South Side.

Amenities are solid for an airport business lounge. Inside, you’ll find shower rooms, a smoking room, lockers, phone booths, and a nursing room.

The lockers are especially handy if you’re juggling a carry-on and smaller bags. Some are large enough to secure a suitcase underneath.

I didn’t use the shower rooms myself, but it looked like you need to request a key card at the reception desk.

There was also clear signage showing the shower and restroom layout, which made the space feel easy to navigate.

The restrooms were spotless and surprisingly spacious.

We ended up settling in on the North Side, so the rest of the photos below are from that section.

There was plenty of seating, and it never felt cramped.

Some seats even have direct views of the runway, which is always a nice bonus if you like a little plane spotting before boarding.

Power outlets are built into tables and seating areas throughout the lounge, so it’s easy to charge your phone, laptop, or camera while you wait.

And yes, there was even a small service robot cruising around the lounge.
Family-Friendly Features: Baby Room and Nursing Room

One thing that really stood out to me was how family-friendly this Kansai Airport lounge is. There is a dedicated baby area, and behind the curtained entrance you’ll find a nursing room and a diaper-changing space.

Inside, there is a sink, microwave, hot water, and changing tables.

I also liked that there were two kinds of diaper-changing stations: one for infants who need to lie down and another for standing diaper changes.

The hot water dispenser reaches 80°C, which is useful if you need to prepare formula.

There is also a private breastfeeding room, and baby chairs are available as well.

We were traveling with our little one, so we ended up using this space to mix a bottle and feed the baby before boarding. If you’re doing family travel in Japan, this kind of setup makes a huge difference.
Food at KIX Lounge Kansai: What to Expect

Now for the part most people care about in any airport lounge review: the food.

In the fridge, there were juices, milk, tonic water, and chilled glasses for beer or highballs.

There was a small bread selection as well.

Salad was available if you wanted something lighter.

There were also a few small side dishes that looked like they were meant to go with rice.

A Japanese rolled omelet was part of the hot food spread.

There were also two kinds of cup ramen, which felt very on-brand for a quick airport lounge meal in Japan.

Other grab-and-go options included gimbap, the Korean seaweed rice roll, and onigiri, Japan’s rice balls.

There was inari sushi too.

For hot dishes, I spotted a few chicken options.

The alcohol selection was decent too, including wine, sake, whiskey, and more, though I wouldn’t call it especially premium.

And yes, there was a draft beer machine.

I didn’t photograph every single item, so the full buffet was a little more extensive than what’s shown here.

I started with curry rice, which hit the spot before a flight.

Then I followed it with a cup of ramen, because airport lounge self-control clearly wasn’t happening that day.
Is KIX Lounge Kansai Worth Using?
For me, yes. I had heard the lounge was renovated in March 2025, and it definitely felt fresh, clean, and well maintained. The food selection was better than expected, the seating was comfortable, and the overall space felt much less hectic than the main terminal.
What really made this lounge stand out, though, was how well it worked for families. If you’re traveling through Kansai International Airport with a baby or young child, the nursing room and baby facilities are a major plus.
If I fly out of Osaka again and have access, I’d happily come back to KIX Lounge Kansai.
