If you’re looking for a great family-friendly place to stay in Nha Trang, Vietnam, I highly recommend Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh. In this post, I’m following up on my previous 2-bedroom pool villa review with a look at the hotel building roomsthe Ocean View Deluxe Suite King Roomand the Deluxe Twin Room.I’ll show you both in detail.

Detailed review of the Mövenpick Nha Trang pool villa

Why the hotel rooms are worth it

Mövenpick Nha Trang hotel vs. residence comparison

At Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh, the room categories are broadly divided into the hotel building, residence building, and pool villas. That’s the basic setup here.

In the photo above, the tall building on the left is the residence building, and the tall building in the center is the main building, the hotel building. The smaller houses in front are the pool villas.

Here’s the difference between the hotel building and the residence building.

Hotel

  • Bathtub: yes / Washer: no

  • The breakfast restaurant is in the same building, so getting around is easy.

  • Maximum floor: 12

Residence

(condo)

  • Bathtub: no / Washer: yes

  • Kitchen facilities included, such as an induction cooktop and sink

  • You need to take a buggy cart to get to breakfast or the main pool.

  • Large refrigerator with freezer, plus plenty of storage space

  • Maximum floor: 11

For reference, on the booking page,if the room name includes “Residence” or “Studio,” it’s in the residence (condo) building. If not, it’s in the hotel building.

I heard the residence rooms are a little cheaper than the hotel rooms, but also a bit more dated and slightly smaller—though still spacious—so we skipped those and booked the hotel building instead.

That said, if you’re planning a longer stay and want cooking facilities, a freezer, or a washer, the residence building is still a very solid option.

One big advantage of both the hotel and condo buildings over the pool villas is that they’re in taller buildings, so the ocean view feels much more open and expansive. They’re also closer to the breakfast restaurant, kids club, and main pool, which makes moving around a lot easier.

Our room was on the 10th floor out of 12, so we were on a high floor—and the view was honestly fantastic.

This is the hallway view, and the actual room’s ocean view is even better. I’ll show you below.

Ocean View Deluxe Suite King Room

We had actually booked a Junior Suite King Room, but thanks to my Accor Diamond status, we got a one-level upgrade.

That’s how we ended up in Room 1015, the largest room on the 10th floor.

As you’d expect from a Deluxe Suite, the room is seriously spacious.

At around $142 a night, the value is kind of wild for a 5-star Southeast Asia resort.

This was the room my niece’s family of four used most of the time. At 95 square meters, it felt roomy even for four people.

There’s a large dining table for four, and lots of mirrors, which was surprisingly convenient.

The sofa is big, and there are plenty of surfaces to set things down, so it works well even when you have a lot of luggage.

The room was also very clean overall, with nothing major to complain about. Even during peak season, the upkeep felt impressively solid.

They even brought us a fan, and it was a bladeless one, which felt like a thoughtful touch for families traveling with kids.

The king bed was huge and very comfortable, and a bed bench is always more useful than it sounds.

The TV is mounted on a swivel, so you can turn it depending on whether you’re watching from the living room or the bed.

The bathroom is enormous too. And as you can see, the entry area is slightly separated from the rest of the room.

The bathroom has doors from both the bedroom and the living room, which makes the layout really convenient.

There are two sinks, and the counter space is wide enough to spread out all your toiletries without a problem.

I also personally prefer this layout where the toilet room and shower booth are separated.

There’s also a drying rack/shelf next to the sink, which ended up being more useful than I expected.

There’s a bathtub across from the sink too—this room really has everything.

And the Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh room ocean view? It speaks for itself.

Seriously, it was stunning. I used to have this bias that Vietnam’s beaches might look a little dull, but staying here completely changed my mind.

That wide-open ocean view made the whole room feel even more refreshing.

If we had only booked a pool villa, I would’ve been sad to miss this incredible sea view.

The terrace also has a tea table and a sunbed, so when it’s not too hot, it’s a lovely place to sit outside and catch the breeze.

Standard room: Deluxe Twin Room

Since we stayed for 7 nights, we got friendly with the room manager, and they kindly let us look around one of the standard rooms too. That’s how I was able to take photos of the Deluxe Room as well.

The Mövenpick Cam Ranh Deluxe Room comes in two types—King Bed and Twin Bed—and both are 48 square meters. Even the base room category feels very spacious.

Each twin bed is generously sized too, which I really liked.

You can see the bathroom from beside the bed, but there’s a blind you can pull down for privacy.

The minibar includes a coffee machine, complimentary and paid bottled water, milk, and Milo.

The Deluxe Room has one sink instead of two, but the counter is still wide enough to comfortably hold your cosmetics and toiletries.

There’s also a stool, which is handy, and they provide plenty of towels. If you need more, you can request them through the app.

This room also has the toilet and shower booth separated, which I appreciated.

Bathrobes, an ironing set, flip-flops, a laundry bag, a safe—everything you’d want is here.

The terrace also comes with a tea table and a sunbed.

The view is the same as the suite view I showed above. The exact feel may vary a little by floor, but the scenery is nearly identical. For reference, almost all rooms have an ocean view.
