Fairmont Dubai Review: Room Stay in Downtown Dubai, UAE

My second Dubai hotel review!

After heading back from Abu Dhabi,
we needed one more night in Dubai,
so I booked a hotel in a hurry.

Fairmont Dubai isn’t on the Burj Khalifa side of town,
but it’s close to World Trade Center Station.

It’s also within sight of
the Museum of the Future, one of Dubai’s new landmarks.

Since we came over after dinner in Abu Dhabi,
we ended up checking in pretty late at night.

It’s part of Accor’s luxury lineup,
but the lobby honestly didn’t feel especially glamorous or high-end.

The lounge had more of a library vibe,

which would’ve been fine,
except there were so many women in full-on going-out outfits on the first floor
that I finally asked, “Wait, is there a nightclub here?”
Turns out there is one in the basement.

I’m really sensitive to noise, and I had no idea before booking,
so at check-in I made a point of asking for a quiet room
more than once.

Thankfully, the room ended up being quiet and comfortable.

I booked the hotel last-minute that same day,
and on the way there I started reading the Google Maps reviews.
A lot of people complained that the elevators were painfully slow
and broke down often.

In person, they did feel a little old and dated,

but there were six elevators total, and maybe because we only stayed one night,
it never turned into a major headache for us.

Here’s the floor guide for reference.

You can check where the breakfast restaurant and other dining venues are,
along with the pool, meeting rooms, and more.

The back of the elevator is made of clear glass,
so in some spots you look into the interior,
and in others you get an outdoor view.

But the elevator speed really was… unbelievably slow.

Seriously, just watch the video.
I didn’t alter the playback speed at all.

Anyway, enough about the elevators.
The hallway and room itself were much more satisfying.

The corridor felt cozy and looked really pretty, right?

We got Room 3002.

Two key cards, too.

The hotel layout is unusually unique,
so when I first looked at the room map, I was like, “What am I looking at?”
But it made more sense the longer I stared at it.

The black dot marks Room 3002,
and even though it was near the elevator, it wasn’t noisy at all.
It was also an end room, so there was less risk of hearing the room next door.
Honestly, it was an excellent room assignment.

By the way, the room categories here seemed to be
Fairmont King/Twin and Fairmont View King,
plus Fairmont Gold and Fairmont Gold Junior Suite.

So from what I could tell, there were only four main room types.
We stayed in the entry-level Fairmont King room.

First, let me give you a quick room tour by video!

Walking into the room—

wow, it was pretty.

The whole space was done in beige and light brown tones,
with deep blue accents that looked especially beautiful.

The lighting was placed exactly where it needed to be,
which made the room feel warm, cozy, and inviting.

Even though this was a standard room, it felt quite spacious.

The furniture was arranged in a way that made moving around easy,
so it was a very comfortable one-night stay.

The bathroom is right by the entrance.

On the wall across from it,
there was a photo of a Dubai intersection
that gave the room a cool, futuristic-city feel.

I also really liked the size of the bathroom.
The marble looked upscale, there were double sinks,

and I loved that the bathtub and shower were separate.

The amenities were full-size,
with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided.

They also had the usual disposable items,
including toothbrush sets and pretty much everything else you’d need.

Back out in the main room,
there was a table I used as both a work desk and a vanity.

There were outlets in plenty of convenient spots too.
Maybe the room had been renovated at some point,
because it felt clean and polished, not worn out at all 🙂

Since I like my blog posts to be super detailed,
I took photos of all the little extras.

I figured it might help at least one person.

Thankfully, the bottled water came in single-use plastic bottles,
and they gave us two.
There was also a capsule coffee machine and a few kinds of tea bags.

Of course there was a safe as well.

Even the disposable slippers felt surprisingly high quality.
The different colors and sizes were kind of cute.

I’m also including the hotel information sheet as-is,
so you can scan through and find anything you need.

The back side actually had a lot of useful info.
Breakfast, dining, facilities, shuttle bus details, and more.

The room view, though, was pretty underwhelming.
To be fair, this was the standard room.

Looking straight down,
you could see the outdoor pool on the 9th floor.
The catch is… the pool wasn’t especially pretty either.

Of course, if you book a better room category,
you can get a city view with the Museum of the Future like this.
It’s the round ring-shaped building on the left.

But honestly, even that view didn’t wow me.
I’m not sure it’s worth paying extra just for the view upgrade.

If the Conrad hotel right in front weren’t there,
it probably would’ve looked much better.

And also— Pullman Dubaigave me mild trauma from hearing street racers at dawn,
so now I’m even less into rooms facing long main roads like that.

This is what Dubai traffic looked like at 1 a.m.
Since it’s so hot during the day, people are out and about a lot at night.

Still, maybe there weren’t any racers that night,
because I slept deeply without any noise issues.

There was a supermarket near the hotel,
so we grabbed drinks and snacks and made a late-night snack run out of it.

I turned on the TV and somehow found MBC…?
I’m not even sure if it was that MBC,
because the logo looked the same, but it also somehow didn’t feel like it was.

Honestly, no idea… and not that important.

For travelers getting around on foot or by public transit, this is also convenient
because it’s a five-star hotel right near the metro station.

Conrad Dubai is literally next door,
and because of my Accor status,
it’s a little sad that I don’t really branch out to other brands much.

I was walking around holding a bottle of Perrier,
and it looked so much like I was carrying alcohol that I had to laugh and take a photo.

Since this is a country where alcohol is more restricted,
carrying a bottle around that visibly could probably get awkward fast.

And this was just…
a screenshot I saved from the hotel at night
because the current temperature glitched to minus 1,000 degrees
and it made me laugh.

My overall Fairmont Dubai review!

After check-in and seeing onlythe room,
I liked it enough that I kept saying, “This place is nice, this place is nice.”

But the next day, after trying the breakfast and the hotel facilities,
there were honestlyquite a few disappointing parts.
So as an overall hotel score, I wouldn’t rate it that highly.

That said, if you’re not planning to use the facilities or eat breakfast
and you really just need a place to sleep,
the room itself was comfortable, cozy, and genuinely nice.
In that case, I’d recommend booking itas a room-only stay.

But then again, if you’re literally just sleeping,
you probably don’t need to book somewhere this nice in the first place, right?

I probably wouldn’t come back, but it also wasn’t a
“absolutely terrible, never again” kind of hotel.
