Hotel Sacher Vienna Breakfast Review: The Best Breakfast in Vienna, Austria

After sharing my room review last time,

I had to come back and write a full review of the breakfast at Hotel Sacher Vienna!

I’ve stayed at plenty of great hotels in different countries, but

when it comes to breakfast, Sacher was on another level.

Breakfast at Hotel Sacher is served on the first floor (E level)

at the Red Bar restaurant.

The hours were roughly from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.,

so it was available for a pretty generous window.

This was the mood all throughout the hotel,

so my eyes were genuinely happy the entire stay.

On your first morning, a staff member

actually gives you a quick tour of the breakfast room.

I was still dealing with jet lag, so I showed up around 7:30 a.m. and was the first one there.

They even recommended a seat for me.

Each table already had jam and a few different sauces set out, and there was even more over at the buffet.

The buffet area itself wasn’t huge,

but everything was arranged on different tiers, so

there was a surprisingly wide variety and it was easy to navigate.

There’s even a Petit Sacher corner for kids.

They had coloring books and colored pencils too,

and kids could just grab them and use them freely.

There were kids’ plates and even mini Nutella jars.

If you stay at Hotel Sacher, you can eat as much of the original Sacher-Torte as you want—

the same cake that costs about 15,000 KRW

for a slice at Café Sacher.

And here it is, just sitting out in the breakfast room…

The desserts next to it were all delicious too.

After visiting Austria, I realized dessert culture there is

seriously strong, and even at breakfast

the dessert selection was incredibly varied.

They did feel a little heavy for breakfast,

but everything tasted so good that it felt wrong not to try them.

That yellow cheesecake on the right was especially amazing.

And beyond the desserts,

the regular breakfast pastries were excellent too.

There were more jam varieties than the ones on the table, and they also had cereal.

The salads and fruit were all things you’d actually want to eat.

This wasn’t one of those hotel breakfasts

with tons of options on paper but nothing you really want on your plate.

They even had honeycomb, but

my mouth was already overloaded with sweets, so I skipped it.

They even had champagne.

Are people really drinking at breakfast…?

It was Sacher’s own branded champagne,

but morning drinking was a little too ambitious for me, so I passed.

There were also great things to pair with it, like cheese and nuts,

plus a nice variety of cold cuts and more.

You can also take a look at the food in the video.

The buffet itself was excellent, but

the real highlight of breakfast at Hotel Sacher was the made-to-order menu.

You can order anything on the menu as much as you want,

and a friend who works at Sacher recommended

the Eggs Benedict and the French toast.

But the surprise favorites we discovered ourselves were

the cheese chili sausage and the shakshuka!

Once you sit down, you order your coffee first,

then head to the buffet and bring back whatever you want.

Starting the morning with a sugar boost from Sacher-Torte.

The slices were a little smaller than the ones sold at the café,

but the taste was exactly the same.

I normally don’t go this hard on sweets,

but here, it felt impossible not to.

I ordered eggs, and added

the cheese chili sausage on the side.

That sausage was ridiculously good.

Are Vienna sausages always this high quality?

There were several kinds of Eggs Benedict,

and I ordered the Eggs Florentine

with the original Sacher sausage as my side.

After trying both, the sausage was definitely no match for the cheese chili version,

and the Eggs Benedict itself was pretty standard.

More sausage, please~

Oh, and the coffee menu here

was the same as the one at Café Sacher,

so you can order a Melange too.

I also loved that decaf was available.

Since it was included, I kind of wish I’d tried an Einspänner too.

But the coffee was genuinely so good

that even a simple Americano made me happy.

And of course, I loaded up on fruit too.

The next day, I went early again and fully committed.

I also ordered the French toast my friend had recommended!

The presentation was gorgeous, right?

The flavor was pretty much what you’d expect,

but it’s definitely one I’d recommend for the photos.

And this was the shakshuka—

basically the same idea as eggs in hell.

After eating a bunch of sweet things,

this felt weirdly refreshing and almost like hangover food.

It had a nice spicy kick and a warming depth,

so I think it would be especially appealing to Korean tastes.

Since I was only staying two nights, I couldn’t leave without one last slice,

so I finished with Sacher-Torte again.

If I’d stayed one more night, there were still a few more dishes

I would’ve wanted to order,

so I guess I’ll just have to come back and stay here again.

If you’re booking Hotel Sacher in Vienna, Austria,

I highly, highly recommend reserving it with breakfast included.

Honestly, without this breakfast,

my overall satisfaction with the stay would’ve dropped by at least half.
